Skull Fetus - Paper Print
By Alex Grey
The Birth of "Skull Fetus"
This was my first finished drawing of a recurring subject in my work, pairing the polarities of birth and death. The Skull Fetus icon became part of my being series in 2002 with the introduction of Interbeing. And then in 2006, Adam Jones @adamjones_tv from Tool @toolmusic and Bayard Baudoin @bayardbaudoin helped me realize a 3D version of the image that was part of the 3-D viewing experience of the 10,000 Days album. So grateful for the assistance of friends in evolving the image from one medium to another, like tattoos! (Sorry I lost info on whose tattoo this is…) We did a pendant at one point. It was always part of the CoSM angel that greeted visitors in NYC for five years 2004-2009 shown in the last image.

Deckled Edge Fine Art Paper Print
To honor "Skull Fetus," this limited edition fine art print is presented on deckled edge paper, adding a touch of timeless elegance to the artwork. The deckled edge refers to the irregular, feathered border around the print, harkening back to traditional paper-making techniques.
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the deckled edge adds an aura of authenticity to the art piece. Each print is inspected and signed by Alex Grey, ensuring that collectors receive a unique and exceptional work of art.
Connecting with the Divine through Art
At CoSM (Chapel of Sacred Mirrors), we believe that art has the power to transcend boundaries and act as a conduit of creativity between the human spirit and the divine.
"Skull Fetus" serves as a potent reminder of the interconnectedness of all life and the eternal dance of creation and destruction. As you gaze upon this artwork, you may find yourself drawn into a deeper contemplation of the human journey, mortality, and the transformative nature of existence.
