"The Polar Unity Spiral symbolizes the mystical experience I had during my first LSD journey. With eyes closed, I was spinning through a dark helical tunnel going toward the light, visible just around the bend. It felt like the light was Spirit, a sacred answer to my every existential question. Realizing that all the shades of grey brought the opposites together I decided to change my name to Grey. The Polar Unity Spiral is therefore my first work of psychedelic art, painted half a century ago, and believe it or not it's now an art blanket." - Alex Grey
